“An orange is a sweet juicy fruit, locked inside a bitter peel. That’s not how I feel about a challenge, I only want the bitterness. It’s coffee, it’s grapefruit, it’s licorice. ” ~Bennett Foddy

Orange Hell is the popular fan-made nickname given to an obstacle in Getting Over It, notorious for its steepness, peril, and general difficulty to overcome. After completing the section in the game where the room furniture is located, Diogenes will find himself next to a red table with an orange on it. To the side are two more oranges, one whole, and one that is sliced into two. After the table, Diogenes must climb a steep stone mountain in order to progress to a church with bats, and then to a snowy cliff with an anvil. If Diogenes falls down, then he could fall all the way back down to the “Pericolo Di Caduta” sign or even back to the start. This obstacle is located approximately halfway up the complete mountain that Diogenes climbs, which makes it the “halfway point” for players.
